THE National Police Commission of the Philippines has approved the proposed expansion of the Philippine National Police.
In a statement, the NAPOLCOM said it has approved the recruitment of 17,925 Police Officer 1 (PO1) through Resolution No. 2018-437, dated August 29, 2018, to replenish personnel losses, increase personnel strength, enhance police visibility, and improve police-to-population ratio to consequently improve the prevailing peace and order condition in the operational area covered by the respective Police Regional Offices (PROs) and National Support Units (NSUs).
NAPOLCOM Vice-Chairman and Executive Officer Atty. Rogelio T. Casurao said that for 2018, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will recruit 10,000 civilians for the regular recruitment quota and 7,925 new police officers for the attrition recruitment quota.
“Out of the 10,000 regular recruitment quota, 9,500 will be distributed to the Special Action Force (SAF) and the Public Safety Forces (PSFs) of all PROs, except the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), in order to strengthen their personnel complement, while the remaining 500 shall be allotted to selected PROs and NSUs to support their personnel build-up program,” Casurao said.
On the other hand, the attrition recruitment quota shall be distributed to PNP units/offices where police personnel were attrited in order to replenish their personnel complement.
The 10,000 regular quota is distributed per region, as follows: PRO1-350; PRO2-350; PRO3-200; PRO4A-300; PRO4B-200; PRO5-600; PRO6-800; PRO7-300; PRO8-600; PRO9-700; PRO10-800; PRO11-800; PRO12-700; PRO13-500; PRO COR-500; PRO ARMM-500; SAF-1,500; Maritime Group (MG)-50; Highway Patrol Group (HPG)-50; PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG)-50; Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG)-50; Intelligence Group (IG)-50; and, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-50.
The 7,925 attrition quota is distributed per region, as follows: PRO1-320; PRO2-250; PRO3-540; PRO4A-560; PRO4B-280; PRO5-330; PRO6-590; PRO7-400; PRO8-580; PRO9-390; PRO10-470; PRO11-460; PRO12-290; PRO13-240; PRO COR-510; PRO ARMM-390; NCRPO-1,050; MG-70; HPG-105; PNP-DEG-50; and, PSPG-50.
The newly appointed POIs shall undergo the Public Safety Basic Recruitment Course and Field Training Program pursuant to Section 19 of R.A. 8551.
Casurao said that the Chiefs of PNP Offices/Units and members of the various Screening Committees, including the head and members of the Secretariat, are required to ensure strict compliance with the recruitment procedures and guarantee the appointment of the best and most qualified police personnel, otherwise, they would be subjected to administrative sanctions.
