PhP29.9 million food allowance for overcrowded jail

THE Quezon City Council has authorized Mayor Herbert Bautista to allocate PhP29.9 million for the food provision of Quezon City Jail detainees.

City Councilors Franz Pumaren and Raquel Malangen, through City Resolution 7163-2017, directs Mayor Bautista to appropriate funds to be dedicated for the food of detainees at the detention center.

Immediately, Bautista has ordered the release of funds to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology upon the request of the Quezon City Jail management.

The PhP29.9 million are broken down as follows: rice, 4,020 sacks (PhP10 million); pandesal (PhP11.2 million); pan de coco (PhP2.1 million); kalihim (PhP2.1 million); monay (PhP2.1 million) and Spanish bread (PhP2.1 million).

The QCJ is one of the most over crowed jail in the country.
