EVERYTHING is set in Quezon City for the 120th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence.

Mayor Herbert Bautista will lead a simple commemoration ceremony in front of the City Hall building at 8 am. on Tuesday with the theme, “Kalayaan 2018: Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan.” The guest of honor for the said event is Department of Interior and Local Government Undersecretary Martin Diño.

Emilio Aguinaldo declared the Philippines from Spain on June 12, 1898 in his Kawit, Cavite mansion under the sponsorship and protection of the United States of America. Since 1962, after former President Diosdado Macapagal moved the independence day celebration from July 4, the Philippines has been commemorating independence day on June 12.
