IN A bid to accurately disseminate information concerning the weather, the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office last week has organized a three-day seminar-workshop on Hydrometeorological Hazards for its Emergency Operations Center personnel, it was learned yesterday.
Weather specialists from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) served as seminar trainors. Among the topics tackled were weather hazards, different types of weather, interpretation of PAGASA’s weather advisories, weather, flood forecasting and early warning system, weather and climate monitoring.
Quezon City Public Affairs and Information Services Office staff members also participated in the seminar-workshop.
The training is organized to orient the QC DRRMO-EOC and PAISO personnel on how to correctly interpret and disseminate PAGASA’s weather and climate terminologies.
QCDRRMO-EOC officer-in-charge Lester Morfe, in behalf of his staff, have expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be trained by PAGASA.
“Very much appreciated ng QC DRRMO ang services ng PAGASA, lalo na ang training na ito sapagkat malaki ang tulong nito sa aming monitoring,” Morfe said.
The second batch of seminar-workshop will be held on June 6-8.
