THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency accidentally discovered and seized some PhP30 million worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu from the house in Angeles City of a suspected Chinese drug lord who was earlier arrested and charged for drug related offenses before a local court.
PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino said the accidental discovery of the shabu happened while the lead prosecutor in the prosecution of Yiye Chen and a team were conducting an ocular inspection of the suspect’s house at 6-7 Jasmin St., Hensonville, Barangay Malabanias.
Aquino said that while members of the inspecting team was installing light to better illuminate the area, they noticed granules of white crystalline substance falling from the ceiling, which was immediately subjected for K9 detection.
The dog positively reacted as it sniffed the substance to be suspected shabu, so the team decided to tear down the ceiling that resulted in the discovery of more or less five kilograms of suspected shabu, Aquino added.
Chen is a drug personality was arrested last August 2016, by members of the PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region by virtue of a warrant. Chen was charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) after 36.5 kilos of suspected shabu were seized from him.
