THE Quezon City Metropolitan Trial Court has convicted and fined the former University of the Philippines Dean of Home Economics Milagros Querubin after she was found guilty of failing to file her Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net worth for 2008 and 2009.

Aside from Querubin’s failure to file her SALNs, the court also found out that she failed to declare two real properties in Barangay Putatan, Alabang, Muntinlupa City in her 2010 and 2011 SALNs.

According to the Office of the Ombudsman, the accused initially pleaded not guilty but later changed her plea to guilty. Hence, acting QC-MTC Presiding Judge Don Ace Mariano Alagar rendered a Decision ordering Querubin to pay a fine of P4,000 for four counts of violation of Section 8 of Republic Act 6713 (the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees).

Section 8 of RA. No. 6713 requires all public officials or employees to accomplish a statement under oath showing their assets, liabilities and net worth and financial and business interests as of 31 December of every year, including those of their spouses and of unmarried children under eighteen (18) years of age living in their households, and to submit this on or before 30 April of the succeeding year.
