THE Ateneo School of Government Alumni and Students’ Association (ASOG-ASA) will host a forum about federalism on Saturday with the former Senator Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel as speaker.

Specifically, the forum, which was entitled “The Way to Federalism: The Future of Local Government Units,” will start at 10:30 am. until 1 pm. at the San Alberto Hurtado Hall, AdMU Quezon City campus. Pimentel, who authored the Local Government Code, will talk about federalism and how it will affect the country.

The forum, which will be held in cooperation with the Ateneo School of Government, is expected to draw professionals, students, university professors, and some local government officials.

Some issues against the federalism movement like the possible divisiveness it will create, the uneven development among states, the confusing overlaps in jurisdiction, the possibility that it may not satisfy separatists in Mindanao and others will be discussed in the forum.

  1. I encourge fellow MPM graduates, students and local chief excutives to join and listen both sides. Regardless of what is our stand about Federalism it is the proper venue to hear both. See you there.
