PH Drug Enforcement Agency honors four regional offices, the Special Enforcement Service and its Intel service for exemplary work

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Monday honored four of its Regional Offices, it Special Enforcement Service and Intelligence Service for their significant anti-drug accomplishments.

PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña personally presented the plaques of recognition and commendation to the awardees during the agency’s regular flag-raising ceremony at the PDEA National Headquarters in Quezon City.

 Lapeña said the Special Enforcement Service (SES) under Director Ismael Fajardo, Jr. received the award for the successful service of a search warrant in Pinagbayanan Street, Barangay Lingunan, Valenzuela City which resulted in the arrest of five Chinese Nationals and the confiscation of 5.8 kilograms of ephedrine, 900 kilograms of sodium hydroxide and 675 kilograms of titanium dioxides, on July 22, 2016.

The operation was in collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-illegal Drugs Group (AIDG).

On the other hand,  Lapeña said PDEA’s Regional Office-Cordillera Administrative Region (PDEA RO-CAR) under Director Juvenal Azurin, with the support of Tinglayan Municipal Police Statiojn, Kalinga RPSB and Kalinga PPO, received the award for the successful marijuana eradication that led to the destruction of P62 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants in Mt. Chumanchil, Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga on July 22 to 25, 2016.

The same operating unit was also commended for the successful marijuana eradication operation on July 29 to 31, 2016 which resulted in the uprooting of P107 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants in Kasablutan, Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga.

While PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region (PDEA RO-NCR) under Director Wilkins Villanueva was cited for the successful implementation of a search warrant in Jasmin Street, Hensonville, Malabañas, Angeles City resulting in the seizure of P106.97 million worth of shabu and the arrest of one Chinese national on August 5, 2016.

On August 4, 2016, meanwhile, Lapeña said PDEA Regional Office-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA RO-ARMM) under Director Edgar Apalla conducted a successful marijuana eradication operation which resulted in the destruction of dried marijuana leaves and seedlings, with an estimated market value of P5.6 million in Lanao del Sur.

Lapeña said PDEA Regional Office 7 (PDEA RO7) under Director Ronald Allan Ricardo was cited for the successful conduct of an airport interdiction operation on July 20, 2016 that led to the seizure of 4.052 kilograms of shabu and the arrest of one Chinese national in Mactan Airport, Cebu City.

At the same time, he congratulated PDEA’s Intelligence and Investigation Service (IIS) under Director Randy Pedroso for initiating the creation of Cybercrime Narcotics Investigation and Digital Forensic (CNIDF) Units that conduct the digital forensic extraction on electronic devices obtained by the Agency during anti-drug operations.

 “We strongly recognize the anti-drug accomplishments of PDEA and the valuable support given by our partner law enforcement agencies. I encourage our drug enforcement officers and allies to continue the fight against illegal drugs so that we may secure a safe and drug-free future for our children and the generations to come,”Lapeña said.
