IN a bid to lessen passenger discomfort and remove the sight of people sitting on the floor, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has added gang chairs at the departure area of its Terminal 3.
“I was ashamed to see passengers slumping at the floor in every corner of the departure lobby of the NAIA terminal 3 while waiting for their flight. The reason why we are here because of these passengers, they are paying terminal fees, indeed they deserve the best service and facilities,” MIAA general manager Ed Monreal said.
This horrendous situation was personally witnessed by Monreal during his surprised inspection on Thursday morning at the NAIA Terminal 3’s departure lobby.
The airport executive has immediately instructed NAIA Terminal 3 manager Ricardo Medalla to put additional chairs to accommodate more waiting passengers.
Meanwhile, Medalla said they are doing their best to render excellent service and facilities at the passengers’ waiting area.
“We really want our passengers to feel and see that the change is really happening by providing facilities where they could conveniently wait for their flights,” Medalla said.
The NAIA in the past has earned the public’s contempt because of its former management’s lack of initiative to provide excellent service to all arriving and departing passengers.
