PHILIPPINE Drug Enforcement Agency operatives and local policemen arrested a known drug dealer in the world famous island resort of Boracay.

PDEA Director General and Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. said Allan Bolsomo was arrested during a buy-bust operation. He said some P306,000 (US $6,500) worth of suspected Methamphetamine Hydrochloride or shabu was seized from the suspect who is said to be among those responsible for the proliferation of illegal drugs in one of the Philippines’ premier tourist destinations.

Bolsomo will be charged with violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Cacdac said.

If found guilty of drug trafficking, Bolsomo could face lifetime imprisonment and a fine ranging from P500,000 to P10 million (US $10,600 to US $212,000).

Ever since Boracay island, which is located in Central Philippines, became a well-renowned tourist spot, it has become a drug dealers’ bazaar with foreign visitors as their main clients.
