THE Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) assured the public that its standard bearer in the coming elections, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, is in good health contrary to rumors being spread by a political rival.
PDP-Laban made this clarification after Duterte failed to meet with two groups of doctors Thursday due to a migraine attack. Duterte was supposed to speak before the members of the Philippine Society of Hypertension and The Philippine Lipid and Atherosclerosis Society in Pasig City.
“There’s no need to worry about the health of Mayor Duterte. He just needs to take a brief respite from his hectic campaign schedule. We can assure everyone, including his supporters throughout the country that Mayor Duterte can very well sustain the rigors of a nationwide campaign in the run-up to the May elections,” said PDP-Laban spokesperson Paola Alvarez. She added doctors are monitoring Duterte’s medical condition after he suffered a brief migraine episode.
“Mayor Duterte is hale and hearty and determined to go out and meet and greet his supporters across the country to expound on his platform of governance anchored on peace and order, inclusive economic growth ad equality under the law,” Alvarez stressed.
Duterte is rumored to be suffering from throat cancer. He, however, clarified that it was his wife who had cancer.
Duterte said former Interior and Local Government secretary and rival for the presidential post Manuel Roxas II was to be blamed for the rumor behind his alleged illness.
